What Is J Plasma? Does JPlasma Work? – The Hard Truth

Are you looking to get rid of excess or loose skin? Do you want to get tighter and firmer skin? Have you heard about the J-Plasma skin tightening procedure and are curious to know more?

We’ve got you covered, keep on reading to learn more about this procedure to tighten skin.

What Is J-Plasma? Does It Really Deliver Dramatic Skin Tightening?

J-Plasma is a new technology that promises dramatic skin tightening in only one session.

During your J-Plasma procedure, a doctor will make small incisions, introduce a small cannula to remove the fat, then introduce a flow of ionized helium gas via a J-Plasma device directed to the subdermal tissue.

The helium gas is energized to create cold helium plasma, and the heat produced by the J-Plasma energy will trigger collagen production, helping to firm up saggy skin.

Who Is a Candidate for the J-Plasma Skin Tightening Procedure?

Only patients who have moderate to mild excess skin and fat can benefit from J-Plasma skin rejuvenation. This procedure cannot cater to the needs of those who need more help.

Additionally, as it is an invasive surgery, it is not recommended for those who have a low threshold for pain or a complicated relationship with anesthesia.

What Are Some of the Downsides of J-Plasma?

At VIDA we like to tell things like they are. We hear you: dramatic results in the first session and amazing body changes can sound tempting. However, not everything is as nice as it sounds.

The recovery time for the J-plasma skin tightening procedure is quite extensive against other non-invasive procedures. For example, you will need 48 to 72 hours of rest and recovery time and you will need to wear a compression garment for at least a few weeks after your procedure.

Additionally, the results take time to appear. This means that after the initial body shock, you won’t see any real results for months to come.

Lastly, for you to see the dramatic promised results of tighter skin, most doctors suggest getting a J-Plasma session alongside liposuction, turning J-Plasma skin tightening into a complement, rather than a solo procedure.

Should I Get J-Plasma Treatment?

If you have moderate to mild excess skin and you wish to tighten loose skin around the abdomen, J-Plasma might be a good option for you.

However, J-Plasma side effects have been recorded to continue up to three weeks after the initial procedure.

Since there are incisions involved in order to introduce the helium gas and plasma energy to the targeted area, you will need to get local anesthesia in the treatment area and some patients do not react well to it.

If you are looking for dramatic results for face tightening, you should consider getting a session of minimally invasive Thermage for facial rejuvenation.

A powerful, yet gentle, radiofrequency energy technology that will bring you all the skin tightening benefits with minimal downtime and side effects.

However, if you want to transform your abdomen and get rid of the excess skin with immediate results, the best way to go is to get a tummy tuck or liposuction. These permanent and safe skin-tightening procedures will give you the best value for your money and time.

Why Don’t We Use J-Plasma for Loose Skin at VIDA?

We firmly believe that our patients’ safety and security are our number one priority. While J-Plasma treatment is showing some exciting results, there are no hard facts about its efficacy for skin rejuvenation.

Lastly, since J-Plasma is such a new technology, new complications continue to pop up, for example, issues involving skin tone such as scar tissue, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots.

We will always exclusively work with tried-and-true procedures, such as skin resurfacing, that offer long-lasting results.

For example, a tummy tuck or a lipo will always provide a more comprehensive approach to removing excess fat than a technology focused solely on skin tightening.

Alternative Procedures to Tighten Skin

Thermage

Thermage is a non-surgical procedure that refreshes loose skin with laser radiofrequency technology. The laser boosts collagen production in your skin, resulting in the appearance of tighter and firmer skin.

Unlike other treatments that can only be used in your face or body, a Thermage treatment works for both.

There are two different Thermage wavelengths for different applications. One wavelength works at a more superficial depth ideal for tightening your face, smoothing fine lines, and lifting your eyelids and neck; another one reaches deeper to contour and lift your abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

If you’re interested in J Plasma skin tightening but also are open to considering other minimally invasive technology, Themage could be a good option for you.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is an invasive plastic surgery designed to tighten up the appearance of the abdominal area.

In a tummy tuck, the surgeon may start by performing a liposuction on the abdomen to remove excess fat.

The plastic surgeon then makes an incision lengthwise across the lower abdomen, placed low enough in the pubic area to easily conceal in underwear or a bathing suit. The surgeon removes excess and sagging skin from the abdomen.

Next, the surgeon places permanent internal sutures in a crisscross pattern throughout the abdominal wall to repair the abdominal muscles and other surrounding tissues. These sutures hold the restored abdominal muscles in place for a firmer contour.

How Tummy Tucks Work

When the new abdominal profile is achieved, the surgeon closes the incision with dissolvable stitches. Lastly, the belly button is relocated to fit with the tauter, flatter abdominal contour.

Typically, a tummy tuck is an outpatient procedure, but VIDA Wellness & Beauty Center’s recovery boutique is available for local or out-of-town aesthetic plastic surgery patients who wish to recuperate in style at our comfortable facility.

Liposuction

If the appearance of loose skin is caused by stubborn fat deposits, liposuction might be right for you.

Liposuction is most often performed under general anesthesia, but some patients who want liposuction on a small-volume area may opt for local anesthesia with IV sedation.

To prepare for the liposuction procedure, the plastic surgeon typically injects a tumescent solution of lidocaine (an anesthetic), epinephrine, and sterile saltwater, in the treatment area. The solution causes the area to swell, minimizes bleeding and bruising, and facilitates fat removal.

The surgeon makes several small incisions in the treatment area. The surgeon then inserts a thin, hollow tube called a cannula through each tiny incision and suctions out fat. Because the incisions are so small, sutures are not necessary to close them.

Liposuction is usually an outpatient procedure, but our patients often choose to stay in our recovery boutique.
