What is tattoo removal treatment?

laser tattoo removal mexico

Tattoo removal is a treatment that involves the use of special lasers to remove the tattoo ink from the top layers of your skin with much less scarring. Over the years, surgical procedures, such as excision, and dermabrasion treatments have been used to get rid of tattoos.

However, these approaches will cause a lot of scarring for the patient and they can have side effects too. For minimal side effects and minimal scarring, laser tattoo removal makes the most sense. When patients book virtual consultations with us at VIDA, we evaluate their situation to figure out how many sessions they are going to need.

What does laser tattoo removal treatment help with?

Laser tattoo removal can help you get rid of a tattoo that you now consider unsightly. There are many reasons why people want to have tattoos removed. This includes the following:

  • You simply don’t like the tattoo anymore
  • You simply don’t like the tattoo anymore
  • You feel like the tattoo is in a place that is too visible
  • You feel like your tattoo is having a negative impact on your job prospects
  • You have your ex-partner’s name tattooed on you
  • The tattoo has started to discolor and fade
  • The tattoo is inappropriate or offensive
  • The tattoo does not symbolize what you thought it did (we’ve all heard the stories about people ending up with “chow mein” tattooed on their arm in Chinese by accident!)

How does laser tattoo removal work?

We will use a Q-switched laser light to carry out this treatment for you. The laser energy pulse, which happens in billionths of a second, will release a pigment into your skin so that it can be reabsorbed into the body naturally. The laser energy will feel like a lot of little hot dots on your skin.

The discomfort will be reduced considerably, as a stream of cold air is going to be directed at the spots throughout the laser removal. We will also try to anesthetize the treated area so that you do not encounter any pain, as it can be a painful procedure without any anesthetic.

Who is eligible for this laser removal?

There are a number of factors that make people good candidates for laser tattoo removal, including skin types and differences in tattoos.

Typically, people who have dark tattoos and fair skin tend to experience the best results. Nevertheless, if you have a darker skin tone, your tattoo pigment can still be safely and effectively removed.

However, some individuals with tattoos that do have a darker skin tone can experience the darkening or lightening of the skin area that is being treated, so it is imperative to keep this in mind. This is something that we will discuss with you in full during your consultation.

Who should I have tattoo removal performed by?

It is imperative to make sure that you only have tattoo removal carried out by a trained and experienced professional.

The last thing you want to do is leave your tattoo removal in the hands of someone that does not have the right amount of experience. You want to be sure that they have carried out this procedure many times before, and that they have done it successfully as well.

How much does tattoo removal cost?

It is impossible to give you an accurate price without seeing your tattoo. After all, it depends on the size of your tattoo and the number of treatments that are required. It is going to cost a lot more to have an entire back tattoo removed when compared with a tiny love heart tattoo on someone’s finger, for example.

This is why the consultation is so important. We will be able to assess your tattoo so that we can determine how many sessions are likely to be required and give you an accurate quotation for this.
