Eyelid Lift and Brow Lift in Tijuana
Do other people often remark that you look tired, depressed or worried, even though you are well rested and happy? If so, the problem may be with your eyelids and / or brow line. Sagging eyelids and a drooping brow line can make you look exhausted or concerned, even when you do not feel that way. Thankfully, VIDA Hospital in Tijuana offers eyelid lift and brow lift surgery to help you achieve a happy, refreshed look throughout the upper face.
What Eyelid Lift and Brow Lift Correct
Due to the natural aging process, genetic traits, environmental factors such as pollution and certain lifestyle habits such as smoking, the skin can lose its elasticity and start to sag. Fat can become displaced, and muscle tone can be lost.
These developments often lead to drooping upper eyelids that make individuals look sad; sagging lower eyelids that create “bags” under the eyes; and / or a low-hanging brow line that can make people look perpetually worried as well as obscure their line of sight. They can also contribute to the appearance of severe horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows and bothersome “crow’s feet,” or the fine lines at the outside corners of the eyes.
To correct these aesthetic concerns, our board-certified plastic surgeons perform blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, and brow lift cosmetic surgery.
The Eyelid Lift / Brow Lift Procedure
Many patients opt to undergo eyelid and brow lift surgery at the same time for optimal rejuvenating results. Both procedures are performed under general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis. However, VIDA Wellness and Beauty is home to a recovery boutique where patients from out of town can recover in comfort.
If the surgeon is treating both the upper and lower eyelids, he addresses the upper lids first. He places the incision in the crease of each eyelid, so the scars are easily concealed in the natural fold. The plastic surgeon excises sagging skin and eliminates excess fat and tissue from the upper eyelids. He closes the incisions with removable stitches.
Next, the surgeon treats the lower eyelids. He places the incision either beneath the lower eyelash line or directly inside the lower lid. Again, the surgeon excises excess skin and removes unwanted fat and other tissue. He closes the incisions with either dissolvable stitches (for incisions inside the lid) or removable ones.
When medically appropriate, our plastic surgeons take the endoscopic approach to brow lift surgery, which is much less invasive than the traditional “open” approach and often leads to a quicker recovery period. The endoscopic approach involves making several small incisions in the treatment area, through which the surgical instruments are inserted. One of the surgical instruments used in this approach is a long, thin device with a camera on the end of it that transmits a video feed from inside the treatment area onto a screen in the operating room. This allows the surgeon to monitor surgical progress.
Note: Certain patients who desire a more extensive degree of rejuvenation may require a coronal incision pattern, extending from one side of the head to the other.
Recovering From Eyelid Lift and Brow Lift
The recovery period following eyelid lift and brow lift surgery is about one week. During the first few days after surgery, rest as much as possible and keep your head elevated at all times.
The treatment area might be numb, tender, swollen or bruised, but these are expected symptoms that will gradually improve. As the nerves in the treatment area heal, you may experience an itchy sensation.
