It is for this reason that you are going to need to start taking care of your hands and doing whatever is necessary to make them look younger again. Or, at the very least, you need to prevent them from getting worse. That is what we are going to be looking at in this article, so if you want to know more, keep reading down below.

Use Sunscreen

First, you are going to need to ensure you are wearing sunscreen whenever the sun is out. We know that you take the time to cover your face, paying special attention to your nose and cheeks, and the rest of your body. The question then becomes, why are you not putting sunscreen on your hands? Your hands are just as susceptible to the sun as the rest of you, and they may be getting too dry from being in the heat all day.

You will need to buy a specific sunscreen to ensure the best protection. Use a product that has at least SPF 15 to make sure that your skin is safe. But, it is still better to use SPF 30 or greater for protection purposes. For added benefit, look at the label and see if the product contains Mexoryl or Avobenzone. These ingredients will simply add something a little more to the sunscreen, and help prevent you from getting any more sunspots as these can be a huge issue for aging hands.

Sunscreen is going to be a huge help fighting against making your hands look older. When your skin is exposed to the sun for too long, you can end up with spots, wrinkles and dry skin. All of these things make someone believe that you are older than you are. Sunscreen can help you avoid this, so it is worth it to remember. You should also remember to reapply throughout the way as and when needed.

Moisturize Your Skin

Moisturizing your skin is the only way to ensure that your hands aren’t drying out all the time. Dry skin is one of the lead contributors to what people say makes them think a person looks older. There are hundreds of different moisturizers out there right now that can give you the results that you are looking for. You want to apply something that is skin protecting and rich. Ideally, you will need a product that replaces antioxidants and the other elements that join together to keep your skin safe from environmental damage such as the sun.

Take your time when choosing a moisturizer, because you want the one that is perfect for you. If you have sensitive skin, it is likely a good idea to avoid anything that has a scent as this could make the problem worse. Some of the ingredients used to scent products can actually have adverse impacts on the skin, so we highly recommend that you choose something unscented to be on the safe side.

Use Pro Treatments

Think about the treatments that you read about in magazines and think about whether you have ever tried any of them out. If the answer is no, then why not? The pro treatments are just that because they have been through the testing phases, and have had wonderful results when they hit the market. They wouldn’t be pro without being tried, tested and loved first.

Do your research into exactly what the pros in the field recommend when it comes to skincare, and try that. A lot of the time you will see advice for the face and other parts of the body, but most of this is going to work on your hands too. After all, it is all the same skin, it’s just in different areas.

Nail Polish And Other Accessories

One of the things that people said made them think someone was younger was if they were wearing nail polish or other accessories on your hands. As such, if you are someone who tends to keep their hands quite bare, this could be your problem. Bare hands give people more time to notice those little imperfections such as the wrinkles and the sunspots that you perhaps wouldn’t see if they were covered with something else.

Rings, bracelets and other accessories can draw attention away from your hands and to the accessory itself. People who wear nail polish look younger than those who don’t because it is something that is more commonly associated with younger people. It doesn’t actually have anything to do with your hands per se, just that they look prettier when they have something on them.

Be Gentle With Your Skin

You have got to be gentle with your skin, no matter what you do. Your hands do a lot of things throughout a day from picking things up, to making things, to simply being washed. Excessive or constant hand washing can cause rough skin to form on your hands, adding years on that are not there. Try to stick to washing your hands only a couple of times per day where possible, and use soft soaps that are good for your skin. Attempt to avoid bar soaps wherever possible, because these are the worst for causing skin issues.

Every day, you should make sure that you are completing a skincare routine. This should be complete with a high-quality exfoliation element, and you should always do this carefully. Using a good exfoliator, you are able to get rid of all the dead skin on your hands, giving them a softer and more youthful appearance.

Doctor Procedures

There are also doctors procedures that you can consider if you feel like skincare isn’t providing you enough of a result. There is only so much that skincare will be able to do if you are trying to reverse visible damage to your hands, and this is something that you need to understand. Skincare is not going to be a miracle cure, and you can’t count on it to be one. There are, however, cosmetic corrective procedures that you can have performed on your hands if you want to such as fat transfer and fillers like Radiesse

You need to be aware that this is an option, but not necessarily one that everyone is going to be comfortable taking. It will not escape your attention when you take a closer look at these procedures that they are very similar, if not the same as the ones that a lot of doctors use on the face. This is because the premise behind them is the same, to reverse the impacts of aging and make the patient feel more youthful than ever.

Wear Gloves

If your hands are not underwater, then you should be wearing gloves. We know that this is not a common thing to do, so you may feel silly for a little while, but it will protect your hands. You should be aware that once the moisture barrier of your skin has been compromised, it can be extremely hard to get it back to the point that it once was. You can tell that this has happened because your skin will have started to prune like when you have been underwater for too long.

When the barrier is compromised, your skin can become dry, itchy and sometimes even scaly, leading to older looking hands. It is recommended that you wear rubber gloves when you are in the house doing something, and gardening gloves when you are outside. If you want to lock some extra moisture into your hands, then putting on moisturizer at night and then putting gloves on could be a good way to do this.

Look After Your Skin

All of the measures in the world are not going to be enough if you are not willing to go through with them. It is highly recommended that you have a skincare routine that includes your hands that you go through every evening and every morning. Ensure that you incorporate all of the things that we have already mentioned in this article, and perhaps even add a body butter to that as well as this also hydrates the skin. Consistency is the key to healthy and youthful looking hands, so if you have noticed that they are making you look older, you need to be taking better care of them overall.

Hopefully now you see that while your hands may be making you look older right now, there are solutions. If you follow the advice above, your skin isn’t going to get any worse in the coming months, and you may be able to reverse some of the damage. Not everything on this list will work for every person, but you should try them out to see what has the best impacts on you.
