Injectable Cosmetic Treatments
VIDA’s Tijuana dermatologists are also skilled providers of injectable cosmetic treatments. The most common injectable treatments requested at VIDA are:
- BOTOX ® muscle relaxant to suspend muscle movement in the treatment area temporarily, thereby smoothing out the overlying wrinkles
- Dermal fillers, including Juvéderm ® XC, to restore volume to areas of the face that lack fullness
- Thicker gel dermal fillers, including Juvéderm ® VOLUMA XC, to enhance certain facial features such as the cheeks or the lips
Cosmetic Laser Treatments and Non Laser Treatments
We also offer a variety of laser treatments to satisfy a wide range of skincare needs. These include Thermage skin-tightening treatment, laser skin-resurfacing treatment to reveal healthier skin and laser hair removal to eliminate unwanted hair from almost any area of the body.
Skin Cancer Screening and Surgery
The three most common types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. The first two types are typically curable, but early detection is best to avoid costly treatments for later-stage carcinomas. Melanomas are more aggressive and can lead to death. However, melanomas that are detected early on are also usually curable.
Thus, it is extremely important for patients to come in for yearly skin exams, so the VIDA dermatologists can make note of any skin abnormalities and address them as needed. This may include performing a biopsy on the skin irregularity (with the use of local anesthesia, so the patient is comfortable). If the biopsy shows that the skin abnormality is malignant, the dermatologist will recommend an appropriate treatment option, which may involve surgery to remove the malignancy.
The type of surgery chosen is based on the type of cancer, how advanced it is and whether it has spread to other tissues or to the lymph nodes. Often, surgery to treat basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas can be performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia. Mohs surgery may be recommended for more aggressive types of cancer, including melanoma.
